New Year’s Goal
I know this is a little late, but Happy New Year! 2009 was not the best year for many and I am hopeful that 2010 is going to be a great year. So look out for great things! I am not one for making a resolution for the New Year, but I have set a major goal for this year. This year I will finally complete the Architect Registration Exam. Not only will I be happy about this accomplishment, but I know my family, my boss and friends will also all be equally as happy.
To keep myself in line and focused this time around I am going to adopt the same train of thought as I did during architecture school. During the grueling days of architecture school I had to balance school and my studies on one hand and fit my job, social life, eating and sleeping in the other hand. School and the work associated with it took precedence over everything including sleeping. I’ve been out of school for nearly eight years and life has kept me focused on other things instead of accomplishing the exams. While I don’t plan to lock myself in my office and be a complete shut in or go days without sleeping, I do plan to study as much as I possibly can. Knowing that on occasions I will have to sacrifice a fun night out or an evening of watching TV to study. My plan is to take an exam every four weeks (or sooner), with my first exam being at the end of this month. I had started (re)studying Construction Documents and Services months ago so that will be my first one.
Here is the order to my success:
CDS — Construction Docs and Services
PPP — Programming Planning and Practice
SPD — Site Planning and Design
SD — Schematic Design
SS — Structural Systems
BS — Building Systems
BDCS — Building Design and Construction Systems
